~~ 1st day of schOOl ~~

Today is Evelyn's first day of school!
Here's another clip of us getting ready for the shot (coz the camera was in video mode)

I still remember her look when I carried her along the corridor towards the infant room. Very cute! Eyes big big, mouth open and head turning left and right. She was very excited!

We left for lunch and returned in the afternoon, to find her eyes filled with tears and red from crying. A caregiver was giving her her "ne ne". Poor baby. And then we hear poo poo poo.... She pooed! Instead of putting the bottle down and put her on her potty (this is what I always do at home), the caregiver continue to feed her. And finally, when she is not drinking anymore, she was brought to a rocker. Oh... I was shocked! Immediately I asked why wasnt her diaper changed since she pooed? And the answer was... oh we only check every 3hr-ly! And I asked when was the last diaper change. OMG.. she has to sit in her shit for another one and half hour... my poor ah B.....

When we returned to pick her up at night, she was lying on another rocker. This time she was surrounded by babies and kids, all getting ready waiting for their parents to pick them up.

Once home, she drank hungrily. And after a quick bath, she slept (like a real baby)! Occassionally, I can hear her laughter! Thanks god she has no problem sleeping tonight. Today must have been a real tiring day for her!

There is another thing to add... After we left her at sunflowerbaby house, home is really werid without her. The cot is empty, the house "feels" empty (even though there are 2 big adults at home). And I cant wait going back to check on her. I was telling daddy, having baby is like picking up smoking. Before you pick up the habit, you can do without it no problem and still live a happy life. But once you are into smoking, your life changed. You get addicted. I dont mean to encourage smoking, but today every minutes when we are apart my mind kept going back to Evelyn in school. I never expect that having a baby is so "addictive".....

oo.. oo... arh arhh

Tonight Evelyn keeps bubbling and cooing, refusing to sleep. However, once i turned the camera ON, she stopped talking! Maybe she is shy!

Saw that clear path on her head? Yes, she is shedding hair. Guess we made a right decision to shaved her, or else she will be looking "sick" with her hair getting thinner everyday.

And btw, mummy is shedding hair too, yet she cant shave her hair or else she will look like.... hmmm a nun?.. an alien?

Heard the woman's voice in the backgroud? Its not me talking. Its our indian neighbour "shouting" with her baby! Sigh... Thanks god, Evelyn is going to school. Or else, in future i got to scream at her before she can hear me.

Another clip (shorter).. Something interesting towards the end!

Can I sleep here?

So are there any interesting behavior of my princess? Definitely!

When Evelyn is tired (but not overly tired), once you put her on the bed, she will go into a "starfish" position. Leaving her alone, she will fall asleep herself (but sleep duration is variable la). Occassionally, if she cant fall asleep alone, she will make some noise. Usually, we will just pat her softly on her pillow. When all else failed, there is one thing that works -- MILK!

December 21, 2012 Apocalypse

I was thinking of uploading some pics of Evelyn after we shaved her hair. But then I came across this topic...

Since the day I saw Evelyn through the ultrasound in gynae's clinic, I have started to wonder what she will be like. Will she be healthy? Smart? Pretty? I would think and imagine the day when I will hold her hand and walk her to the school, when she will go holiday with us, when she will start making friends and how her boyfriend will look like, and when she will start her own family, and when we will have big family outing ......

If 2012 Apocalypse is true, then its very cruel. Its not so much of the fear of dying or disappearing from the world (since most or all of the living things on earth might perish anyway), its the fear of separation that I wouldnt have a chance to grow with Evelyn. This thought really scares me. Isnt this all parent's wish to be with their child?

Also, if disaster really strike, this blog will be gone too. All the bits and pieces which I've been trying to keep and save for Evelyn will be wiped out. Feeling really down now.... and will she be safe? How do I keep her safe and the family together?

What time is it?.. Its Gym Time!

Recently, we noticed Evelyn likes to stick her hand out straight (like the superman). She will do this almost all the time when she is awake, and she doesnt feel tired at all!

So, during a trip to kiddy palace, we saw and got this turtle gym for her. And she seem to really enjoy her gym session, sticking out all her fours!

Its Poo Poo time ~~

Yes Evelyn has started on the potty lesson. So far so good. At least I am comfortable to say that, she is able to recognise sit on potty means poo poo! She always poo within 5mins after sitting on the potty. Probably, its easier to poo due to her feeding on breastmilk.

I hope when we send her to infant care, the teacher will continue to bring her to her potty or toilet during her poo poo time.

And photos? No photos haha... *censored*...

Its So HOT !

Nowadays, the weather is getting really unbearable.. its so hot and humid! Thanks to the effect of global warming...

But this doesnt stop Evelyn's hair from growing. And its growing VERY WELL. I wouldnt say its "long", coz "Tall" is a much better word to describe her hair, coz its still sticking out! She spends most of her time lying down, probably gravity has forgotten about her hair.

Believe me, Evelyn's hair can smell really bad on a hot afternoon. She needs a hair cut soon! And, here are some last pictures with mummy and daddy before the haircut, for memory of her "womb" hair.

A new "boy" friend

Evelyn has a new friend, who is quite cute ...
See that red patch near her left eye? Its not a love bite from the new boyfriend, but from mosquitoes! Its actually made up of 3 small bites, and there is another one on her left arm (yesterday she slept lying on her right side).
There has been a flood of mosquitoes in our house, and outside our house. I have called NEA, hope they will do something soon, and will not throw my request aside because we are staying in an opposition party's constituent. *pray hard*

Separation anxiety....

Starting to feel this separation anxiety.

I will be returning to office on coming Monday, to help out in an audit. But then I am so loss touch with work after being away for 2 months, so I am also not sure what kind of help I can offer.

Though this is just for a few days (in fact - its a few half days), I am still feeling kind of stress and .. hmmm.. cant describe. I guess I am getting comfortable staying at home with Evelyn, happily changing her diaper and feeding her =)

Haven't been blogging for sometime as busy seeing her needs, will post her other pics on some other days. Just this set first.

Seem that Evelyn doesn't like Tortoise!

A Note from Evelyn

Dear Uncles & Aunties,

Thank you for spending a memorable Valentine Day with me. I was overwhelm by all the gifts that you have showered me. Sorry for not been a good host as you know babies like me tend to sleep, poo, cry & drink milk a lot. I enjoy some of the cuddle from you despite soaking in plenty of sweat. Hope to meet up soon for my very 1st birthday!

Cheers, Evelyn

Here are some gift received by our little Evelyn.....And........ lots of Ang Baossss!

24-hr cow ... Moooo....

Feeding... Feeding.. and Feeding! 24-hr round the clock, everyday! On-demand feeding, comfort feeding, feeding to increase volume...

Nothing has prepared my mindset in this area! Not from the books I read, not from the antenatal classes we attended, and definitely not from friends. In books, I used to see pictures of breastfeeding mother and baby looking contented, peaceful, and lovely. That has been so misleading, at least to me! The reality is.. it is a very tiring task, and you need to have great perseverance to endure so that you can continue. During this period, I think encouragement and help from people around you is very important.

However, there are still people around me, who will give negative remarks, eg milk supply is low - baby do not have enough, baby is hard to take care (because she is always crying), give her a "dummy" i.e. pacifier. So who is this people? Its my mother! Was really disappointed in her. In hospital, she said that, at home she said that. Everynow and then.. How can I trust her to look after my baby in future? Why cant she stop giving feedback if whatever she has to say is so negative? And if you ever try to stop her from talking, she will speak even louder, and this usually woke Evelyn who has just fallen asleep! And the whole nightmare will start all over again.

To keep myself going, I always psyco myself to think that 1-hr of breast feeding would be equivalent to 10g fat lost! And to see Evelyn's pleasing smile after every feeding is the greatest reward for me
*will post her photo later when I have uploaded from camera*
